The Maintenance Technician Apprentice is responsible for all maintenance work at the facility.  Install, repair, wire and maintain a variety of machines, fixtures, building equipment, process controls and circuits and alarms. 

Essential Functions

  1. Perform all preventative building, equipment and machine maintenance as required.
  2. Schedule and perform or coordinate all periodical building, equipment and machine maintenance as required.
  3. Accurately and efficiently diagnose building, equipment and machine problems.
  4. Perform or coordinate all in-house machine maintenance needs including mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic.
  5. Maintain inventory of in-house replacement parts for building, machines and equipment.
  6. Write work order, schedule and oversee work of outside contractors as needed.
  7. Coordinate, schedule and perform all interior building maintenance including painting, floor care, electrical system, lavatory systems, etc.
  8. Schedule annual fire alarm and communication system checks.
  9. Schedule annual fire extinguisher check.
  10. Maintain an organized and clean work area.
  11. Communicate all problems and other work related issues with supervisor.
  12. Receive, understand and follow all written and oral instruction.
  13. Timely completion of all paperwork associated with position.
  14. Maintain meet or exceed rating on all performance evaluations.
  15. Comply with all company policies and procedures including safety and attendance requirements.
  16. Participate in activities to increase personal skill level, overall departmental processes and product quality.
  17. Resolve day-to-day issues by working effectively with others.
  18. Other duties required to meet company needs as assigned by Plant Superintendent.

Minimum Skills & Abilities

  1. High School diploma or equivalent supplemented by technical training and/or experience
  2. Proficient in Machine Set-up, Technical Support, and Maintenance.
  3. Ability to read and understand complex mathematical concepts.
  4. Ability to read and understand complex drawings and instructions.
  5. Proficient use of Measuring and Gauging Tools and Instruments.
  6. Computer Proficiency.
  7. Ability to self-direct workflow in logical order.
  8. Proficient use of forklift, hoist and crane equipment.
  9. OSHA required training in Lock-out / Tag-out, Hazard Communication, PPE and Emergency Evacuation.
  10. Advanced study in mechanical maintenance.
  11. In-house technical training on assigned machines and equipment

Minimum Physical Requirements

  1. 20/20 vision required with or without correction.
  2. Ability to use hands 100% of the workday.
  3. Ability to stand and or walk 100% of the workday.
  4. Ability to bend, stoop, twist, or crawl 50% of the workday.
  5. Ability to exert physical force to push, pull, lift or carry 70 pounds frequently.
  6. Ability to work in shop environment - continuous exposure to potentially hazardous metal working machinery and equipment, loud noises, dust, mist, oils and solvents.
